It Just May Be Your Own
Walked into the local pizza place and everyone had a long drawn face. No one was smiling. The staff appeared miserable. The interaction between the workers and customers was systematic with no personability at all. This was not entirely the workers fault. How would you react if you asked someone nicely "how can I help you?" and they murmur to you with no eye contact as though you are a medieval servant.
A simple thank you can elicit a smile and create an enjoyable interaction. What we get from life stems from what we put into it. Not preaching, but highlighting that there is another way of existing in this life.
For example, what if our response was "Hi there! Everything looks so good. But let me start with a margherita slice. May I also have a small Pellegrino please?"
You just changed the entire experience. Your new comrade behind the food you are about to eat feels appreciated. Before he hands you the Pellegrino, he asks, shall I open it for you? You chuckle & say "well let me see if I'm strong enough", adding a wink. He finally smiles. With minimal effort, you just changed his day and a large part of you feels good too.
Each of us struggles with something in our lives. The customer in this story remained joyful regardless of their loneliness, depression & health issues. This compassionate human being realized there was no reason to perpetuate negativity and impose this on others. But instead, chose to illuminate positiveness and spread enlightenment.
