Your unique style may begin with a fragrance that resonates with your feelings. Some of these scents bring out the tiger in us while others may help ease our stress or make us feel euphoric. In all cases, they touch on our emotions. Our nose (olfactory membrane) sends a message directly to the limbic regions of our brains. The limbic system is the seat of emotions, instinctive behaviors and connections to learning and memory.
Where do these intoxicating aromas come from?
Traditional perfumes and colognes originated by distilling the aromatic cells in certain plants known as plant essences. After distillation, the aromatic substances were referred to as an essential oil.
Many commercial perfumes use chemically derived ingredients that look to mimic the properties of essential oils. However, these copies do not have the same effect a true essential oil blend can have on the body and mind.
Essential oils are indeed the liquid gems of the Earth!
